about us
Our Mission & Technical Background
Bringing 30 years of West Coast structural discipline to California’s high-risk environments.

WCCD is a California Licensed General Contractor (CSLB #CSLB #1135622) specializing in wildfire hardening, seismic retrofits, and trauma-informed fire reconstruction.
The Mission: Resilience as a Shared Responsibility
We believe that community safety is a collaborative effort. Our mission is to strengthen the resilience of Altadena and Pacific Palisades by delivering construction that exceeds minimum code requirements. We meet our commitment to this shared responsibility by integrating science-backed wildfire mitigation strategies with disciplined structural engineering. For WCCD, resilience isn’t a premium add-on—it is the standard for protecting our neighbors and our landscapes.
Localized Expertise & Technical Training
While our foundation was built over three decades, WCCD represents the modern evolution of that experience. We have refined our veteran discipline through specialized training and localized partnerships to meet the unique demands of Southern California:
1. Climate Resilience & Community Context
As graduates of the Contractors Accelerator for Climate Resilience, we have localized 30 years of West Coast construction discipline to the specific geographic and emotional needs of Altadena and the Pacific Palisades. We bridge the gap between rigorous engineering and trauma-informed project management.
2. FEMA-Trained Seismic Specialization
As a FEMA-trained contractor in residential seismic retrofit techniques, we provide the technical precision required to strengthen structures against earthquake damage. Our approach focuses on high-level structural hardening to ensure residential stability in high-seismic zones.
3. IBHS Science-Backed Wildfire Hardening Partnership
Through our partnership with the IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home™ program. This partnership allows us to guide homeowners through the technical complexities of wildfire rebuilding and modern insurance requirements.
4. Registered member of the California Fire Safe Council Business Directory
West Coast Construction & Development (WCCD) provides specialized rebuild services that exceed standard building codes. We integrate Chapter 7A (WUI) compliance with the latest IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home™ standards to improve your Altadena or Malibu rebuild is eligible for improved insurability in 2026.

Industry Example
Industry Example: Wildfire-Resilient Community Construction
Wildfire-resilient design strategies are increasingly being applied at the community scale.
The Dixon Trail community built by KB Home in Escondido incorporated construction features based on guidance from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS)
These strategies help reduce vulnerability to embers, radiant heat, and direct flame contact, the three primary wildfire ignition pathways identified in IBHS research.
WCCD applies similar wildfire-resilient construction principles when building individual homes in wildfire-exposed communities.
